Our motherboard recap service prioritizes quality, not quantity. We offer limited monthly slots to ensure meticulous service, optimal performance, and personalized support for every board. Secure your slot early for expert care and precision.
While recapping is a vital preventative and restorative measure for vintage computers, it's important to understand that not all issues and faults are caused by failing capacitors, and recapping is not a magic, fix-all solution. Many other components can degrade over time, leading to various symptoms. By booking this service, you understand that its scope is limited to addressing capacitor-related problems and cannot guarantee a resolution for all potential malfunctions within your vintage system.
Receipt and Initial Notification: Upon arrival of your motherboard, you will receive an email confirmation including an estimated turnaround time.
Pre-Service Diagnostics: Before any work commences, the motherboard undergoes comprehensive testing. All identified issues are documented and reported to the customer, and photographic records are taken.
Component Removal: Old capacitors are carefully removed using professional equipment, typically hot air, to minimize the risk of damage.
Component Replacement: High-quality polymer capacitors are then installed.
Post-Installation Cleaning: The motherboard undergoes a sonic cleaning process.
Final Testing and Documentation: The board is thoroughly re-tested, and photographs of the completed work are taken.
Completion and Dispatch: You will be notified via email upon completion of the service, and a tracking number for return shipping will be provided.
Once you have placed an order for our recapping service, please send only your motherboard (RF shielding may be included if desired) to the address provided at the top of your invoice.
It is crucial to ensure the motherboard is well-packaged to prevent damage during transit. We strongly recommend sending it within an anti-static bag, particularly if the RF shielding is removed, as common packaging materials like bubble wrap can generate significant static electricity.
Please also include either a copy of your invoice or a note clearly stating your name, address, and order date to facilitate processing.
Once the work is complete your motherboard will be well repackaged and returned to you via Royal Mail. We offer two postage options. You can choose a shipping option that includes coverage for up to £150.00 or opt for the premium choice, which provides coverage for up to £500.00. This allows you to select the level of protection that suits your needs best, ensuring that your valuable equipment is safe throughout its journey back to you.
